Late August as of right now, is actually not as colorful and too dry in the mountains. Late July/Early August and 2 half of September or 1st 1/2 of October, it gets very very colorful, although the weather could be less reliable.

Your never get bored and run out of things to do for sure. People on a "MacDonald drive through" tour of Vancouver or Seattle have no idea what they are missing!!
