Nice guide.

Na Pali - There is a state park on one side of the cliff - the most beautiful and deserted beach on the whole Kauai. To go there one has to go thru a private sugarcane plantation and the road is unpaved and full of big potholes (caused by the heavy trucks harvesting sugarcane). On the contract rental car is forbidden to go there. However if weather has been dry for a few weeks, the road is hard enough that even little salon car can pass. After 30 min or so very bumpy drive from the entrance gate, you will reach a paradise.

Another way to reach beaches on the other side of the cliff is to hike a 3 miles trail from Haena. The trail head is very near the Haena beach. Again if weather has been dry for a few weeks, the trail is easy to navigate, even for children. But it can be impossible and very dangerous after rain.

There are Zodiac and bigger boats do the Na Pali coast line. There used to have a boat called Na Pali Queen that can accommodate 200 persons. Zodiac is not for the timid. Zodiac's usually depart from Ke's beach.

Haena area is the rainy part of the island while Poipu area is the sunny part of the island.

潜水 - I gather you mean snokelling, not scuba diving. Wearing fins would help you balance your body - fins are not use to "chase fishes", but to help one "glides" in the water... Watersocks or similar are a must to prevent scratches, even on sandy beaches one can easily step on some debris and get hurt.

Princeville on Kauai has one of the most beautiful golf courses on all Islands.

Waimea Canyon - It is nicknamed "The Grand Canyon of the Pacific" - it is more beautiful than Grand Canyon due to its lush vegetation. The top mountain ranges of the canyon is the rainest spot of the whole U.S.

It is better to start early to get to Waimea Canyon - you beat the tourists by bus and the Koke's State Park is not open yet - wild chickens roaming around the ground and you have the place to yourself. The time we went, we only met one other couple who obviously were even earlier than us, as they were already at the observation deck for a while, the man has all sorts of photo equipments, waiting for the sunlight to hit the mountain ...

The ABSOLUTE BEST WAY to see Waimea as well as Na Pali as well as the whole Kauai, is to take a helicopter tour. Expensive, but worth every penny. Pick one departs from the west side of the island, so you get more airtime. The highlight is going thru the Waimea Canyon and out the Na Pali Coast - seeing the ocean from the narrow opening of Waimea and then suddenly you are above the ocean and the famous twin beaches are right under - the thrill cannot be described by words.

Oahu - North shore has a few beaches that are rather quiet and worth to drop by, including the famous Sunset beach - the only time you can see a sandy beach there is in summer. In winter, the sands almost disappear - washed away by the huge wave. All the way to the end of North shore, you can see some areas definitely belong to Military, though they dont have any signs.

Wakiki area difficult to find parking. One can rent a car by the day based on one's itinerary.

Maui - The Road to Hana is famous, but personally I think the Maui North Shore is more dramatic both in terms of beauty and difficulty. For those who enjoy driving and enjoy challenging roads, both are the musts. Ditto the Waimea canyon at Kauai. Though yes, We have heard from a friend who absolutely hated the drive to Hana - on the way in, he drove but did not dare to take his eyes away from steering wheel so he said he saw nothing. On the way out, he did not dare to drive anymore and his son drove, but he was so scared by his son's driving, he closed his eyes all the way ! When we heard that, it was very hilalious. But I guess to those who have motion sickness tendency or who have fear of height, such drives can be torture to them.

Not to be missed on Maui is the Haleakala National Park - the crater of Haleakala Volcano - it feels like you are on the Moon.

Maui is the most commercialized (other than Oahu), but also has the most beautiful beaches.

There is also a very good size acquarium on Maui. Worth to see.

Hawaii - the hiking thru Volcano National Park on the lava is exciting. One has to be very careful and follows exactly the safety guidelines. Just a month or so ago an experienced hiker from California was lost for almost a week, survived thru tiny plants found at the lava crevices. He was rescued only because a teenager on a helicopter sightseeing tour spotted the tiny light reflection the hiker made using a small mirror.

Best time to watch the amazing lava flow is at the evening from dusk to dark - one can see the glowing red lava tumbling into the sea - can't see this effect under broad daylight.

Hawaii also has many orchid plantations - on the road to Hilo, there are orchid farms along the roadside. If one has time, it is well worth it to visit.

Hawaii also has the most Southern point of U.S. (not Keywest which may be the most southern point of the mainland). It is aptly called South Point. It is a doubleback detour, but worth the drive if one has time.

Mauna Kea - when measures from the base at the bottom of the sea, actually is the tallest mountain in the world. It is one of the clearest, driest and pitch-black spots on earth, hence the perfect place for star gazing. There are organized tours to Mauna Kea Observatory.

One can make a loop of Hawaii - coastal road and high on the mountain road. It has the largest private range in U.S. Saddle Road crosses the island but it is 4-wheel only and most rental car forbide you to drive this road.

Winter time is not a good time to visit Hawaii. Not only it is rainy, but it is also more expensive (High Season). Unless you are into surf, it is better to visit Hawaii during the spring and the fall. Summer is too crowded by all the people from California due to school holiday.

Hawaii Airline or Aloha Airline sell Island Pass - if one plans to go several islands, it may save money using pass.
