Help needed about passport

I am taking my family to China for a 3 week vacation. Just realized that my daughter's US passport is expiring on 6/30/2005. We will not be returning back to US until 7/6/2005, which is a few days after her passport expiration date.

Both me and my wife are holding a valid 10 year US passport, the issue is with my daughter's passport. I know we wouldn't have any problem with it going into China on 6/12/2005 ( as it is still valid by then), but the question is: would it be problematic when returning from China, 出关时会有问题吗？？如果边检认出护照是有问题的， 会如何对付我们？

Besides, what about going into US, a passport of 8 years old child being expired for a few days should not be causing any problem with US custom, right??I'd hope so, want to hear anybody had prior expericen about this.

Of course I can apply to renew the passport for my daughter, but it costs some $100 and a lot of filling up application ( including photo and etc.). 一句话， 麻烦， 我确实不想做！！！！！
