Warhol自己的话说：“The Pop idea was that everybody could do anything..So naturally, we were all trying to do it all. ” Pop art是从通俗文化（ popular culture）衍生而来，上世纪五十年代革新了艺术的定义，每日的日常生活里，家喻户晓的 物品，如电话，罐头食品都可以成为艺术主题。Pop art：通俗（Popular），短暂性（ transient），可塑性（expendable）， 廉价（low cost），大量复制（mass-produced），年轻富有生命力（young），敏捷幽默（witty）， 性感（sexy），新奇（gimmicky），有魅力（glamorous），具有广阔的市场潜力（big business），最终，非常美国化。
