parents canadian visas

I submitted the application for parents canacian visas on 5/29. Our travel is scheduled on 7/12. Haven't received the passports with the visas back yet. Anybody has experience with Canadian vistor visa?  How long does it take currently? Without passports, parents cann't even check in to get on the plane. Only two weeks left before the scheduled traveling date. Any advice?
