france visa application fee payment questions?

My parents are going to apply french visa in LA next week (I will stay home), and the french consulate requires to use credit card (no cash, check accepted) to pay for the application fee. However, my parents don't have credit card, but they do have bank of america debit card. I was just wondering whether they can use debit card to pay for the application fee? Does anyone here have the similar experience?(Since I am home, I could not use my credit card to pay for the fee for them.)
