Mississippi River 是美国的母亲河, 就如长江是中国的母亲河一样.

The source of Mississippi River 密西西比的源头位於明尼苏达西北的湖区, Clearwater County的东南, Itasca State Park, 一个叫 Lake Itasca 的小雪山湖. Lake Itasca 大约只有 1.8 平方英里.

趟着石头过河, 很惬意. 源头水并不湍急, 小河流水般的普通, 如此壮美的河流竟源於如厮, 直让人感叹世间万物的神奇, 越平凡的东西越愠藏着最大的生命力.

密西西比河流出 Lake Itasca, 反常地向东北方向而去, 穿过重镇 Bemidji, 汇合 Cass Lake, 及至Lake Winnjhigashish才南下到 Grand Rapids, 汇合无数大小湖泊, 来到万湖州的第一城: 双城.

密西西比流过双城, 把城一分为二, 一个古典庄重, 一个现代时尚.

这篇重点介绍州政府.

州政府始建于1896年,於1905完工,当时造价仅4百万,现在增值了100倍. 它的建筑构造几於华府的 Capital Hill 相似,远远望去,恍惚之中,竟有错位的感觉.它的建筑结构巳被列入了美国国家注册的历史之地.
