that's due to the long history

of Chinese culture.
Good for u, u can learn chinese reading by youself. It seems that u can speak Cantonese, or you can't speak only can read? anyway, chinese is harder than E.
Unfortunately, I base in LA, we are too far away. otherwise we can learn a lot from each other.
