Sydney
Sydney, not in Australia, but Nova Scotia, Canada, is a former city. I know, it is confusing not only by the name per se, but in terms of its municipal functions as well. It is the last stop of Majestic Princess in her weeklong journey across New England and Eastern Canada.
To be honest, I got quite lost while walking thru the local tourist brochure, as it states: “Sydney was disincorporated and then amalgamated into a regional municipality or metropolitan area, and is now referred to as an urban community”. I was lost because, before the visit, I failed to dig a little deeper into these words: city, urban, municipality, metropolitan, for a better understanding.
At first glimpse, Sydney, located in Canada's northeast corner, appears pretty rural. However, its downtown has gone years of development, with banks, shops, restaurants, galleries, museums, community colleges, public parks, etc., standing fit well and in various styles along the crowded streets.
I got further lost when running into the graffiti on a street wall saying “Do things you don’t wanna”. I could appreciate it, but had a hard time to catch the point. Don’t blame me, I went to public school.
