Each of the three ways to write 茴 might relate to a piece of past history which isn't necessarily useless for future projects. Those possible projects are not necessarily without innovations.

No everybody is creative. In fact, most people are likely not. When a culture is in decline,  people like 孔乙己 are precious keepers of what have been created by past efforts. They should be valued and respected.

鲁迅 is probably a good writer for creating this fictional character, but he didn't understand his own creation. Like I said more than once before, he was not a true thinker.

We can see there are plenty of anti-traditionalists in wxc or in this forum, and we also can see what they have been doing and what effects they have been bringing about.
