Higgs field is part of the "Standard Model"

Not everyone is convinced of its correctness.

However, according to it, the Higgs field gives mass to particles, but not all particles. The photon still has zero mass ("rest mass").

The standard model seems very artificial. It will likely be replaced by something better.
