Canadian Doctor Church Speaker Dr. Robert B. McClure To Be Guest On Reformed Church Pulpit Sunday

Dr. Robert Baird McClure, a physician and son of Dr. William McClure and the late Mrs. McClure, who were among the pioneers of the Canadian Presbyterian Mission in North Honan, China, will be the guest speaker at the Bronxvillc Reformed Church oh Sunday, February 9, at the eleven o’clock service. Dr. McClure was lent by the Honan Mission of the United Church of Canada to the International Red Cross as Field Director for .Central China during the Sino-Japanese conflict. In June, 1938, he was sent by the China Red Cross by air from Hankow to London as delegate to the International Red Cross meeting and to promote the raising of funds for Red Cross work. ' Dr. McClure was at the International Missionary Council meeting at Madras as the only medical missionary among China’s delegates in, December, 1938. The , following year he returned to China
to resume his work for the China Red Cross. For over a year he was in charge of the transport of medical supplies from abroad to various areas in Southwest and West China. This involved h i s travelling extensively through the Provinces of Kwantung, Kwangsi, Hunan, Kwichow, Yunnan and Szechuan in South and West China and also in French Indo-China. He is regarded as an authority on the “Burma Road’’ and its significance to China. Dr. McClure is on furlough and expects to return to China this year.
