Could it be autism but 弱智 ?

I learnt that the intelligence gene and the autistic gene share a great deal in common.

Autism sometimes appears 弱智, but the truth is, autistic people are often potentially more intelligent. It is the imbalance of their brain developement resulting in impaired intelligence.
