Well, let's start with a solid colored leather bag.

Patch-work bags are very hard to wear anyway. I would suggest a soft-leather bag, at least medium size. You have a good height, so a bigger bag is to your advantage. Black is a natural choice, but you can have fun by picking a bright color, like red, yellow, and green.

But what shape then? I prefer totes, but that's just me.

How about price now? For $200-$500, you have A LOT to choose from.
