Guards like CPS or Nash don't fit Yao Ming.

Kirk Hinrich fits him much better. Why? He's bigger, so he can make post entry pass. AB's problem is not only caused by his lacking of decision making ability, but also limited by his size. Size does matter. AB can only make those low bounce pass, which is very difficult for Yao to catch, and it screws up any rhythm for catch and turnaround jumper.

Guards like CPS and Nash are great at penetration and dish. But Yao doesn't have quick hands to catch those in-traffic-bullet passes. You can't really front Amare or Chandler (not saying he's a good post player), without backdoor helper, because CP3 or Nash can throw alley-oops to those quick centers easily, and they can jump and dunk in one motion. Yao Ming on the other hand, can't do that consistently.

In some way, Rick Adelman was correct to get rid of Rafer and put AB in the driver's seat. Why? Yao Ming needs PGs who can shoot. Rafer's below 40% career won't cut it. AB is better, but too streaky due to his youth. As a PG, AB's decision making ability is really low, but Lowry could be a better PG given more time (he's already better than AB in many aspects, but he has to extend his range beyond the 3 pointer line).

Entry pass are normally better to be made by forwards at the side, from bigger guys. The reason TMac seems to get Yao the ball effortlessly, is 1. his own offensive thread force opponents dare not to cheat 2. his vision and decision making 3. his height and long arms.

Yao is a very very good traditional center, but because of his lacking of athleticism, it's difficult to get him the ball. Short and flashy guards like Nash or CP3 are no good for him, for Yao can't switch and move as quickly. D. Williams will be better for him, because he plays defense and he's strong. But you can't have those guys at reasonable prices, that's why I always want Hinrich - he's good fit for Yao, and he's spendable at the Bulls.

As for D. West, that's a joke for Yao. Outside of jump shots, he offers nothing. Scola is much better fitted and comes with a much lower price tag and much better defensive mind. Ideally, Yao needs a 4 like Otis or Oakley, but those type of guys are long gone in the league.
