It was a weekend night, the street was extremely crowded. Didn't what made us "attractive" to this guy - he was alone, kept holding his hand up towards us "to look at the diamonds".
I used my limited Spanish to tell him go away, if not, then I would call "policia" - did not work. He finally gave up until we went back to the main drag.
OTOH, this Sept when we were at Paris, right outside our hotel at L'Opera - a guy deliberately bumped at LG when LG was standing very near a shop window. The guy then put his hand around LG's shoulder and apologized incessantly.... of course we knew what he was after. LG's wallet was in the inside pocket of his zipped up coat - there probably nothing that thief can do. Still took us several minutes to get rid of him.
