Turf City 变鬼城啦?
Oct 10, 2011: SH Cogent Logistics beat 11 other bidders - including Singapore Agro Agricultural (SAA), master leaseholder for the last 11 years - for the grandstands, main car park and hill car park area at Turf City. Shortly after, SAA informs sub-tenants to move out by Jan 31, 2012 so that it would have one month to restore the site to its original state before handing it back to the Singapore Land Authority (SLA), as per its contract.
Jan 11, 2012: At a media briefing, SLA asked SAA to ensure a "smooth transition" for sub-tenants who intend to stay on. SLA notes that SAA would not have to reinstate the area - removing additions and fixtures - before Cogent takes over. But SAA points to an SLA letter issued in June 2011 stating that it had to hand over the site in vacant condition.
Jan 20: Cogent obtains a High Court injunction that bars SAA from evicting sub-tenants who want to stay on in Turf City, removing renovations or additions, or cutting off access to utilities.
Feb 2: Media reports emerge of sub-tenants' complaining that some lights have been turned off and rubbish bins removed, one day after SAA left Turf City.
Feb 24: A High Court reverses the earlier injunction.
