Lawyer Sivakant Tiwari was part of the team which helped resolved the sovereignty dispute with Malaysia over Pedra Branca and a number of rocky islets in the South China Sea, a case he was involved in for nearly three decades.
For his service in those landmark cases and his "many sterling contributions to the nation", Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his Cabinet colleagues expressed their gratitude yesterday to the Legal Service veteran.
Mr Tiwari, 64, died yesterday morning. He had been sent to the hospital on Sunday after complaining of a headache.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
