Agree with you. I think Chinese usually not that hospitality, and most are working parents. Busy for Children and works. I suggest you are not afraid to ask help if you need. Base on your situation, Most church member will give your hand if they can, but don't expect they will give your help ahead. If you feel some uncomfortable from their help, Don't think too much. They might have their own issues like the relationships with their spouse or children and other frustrations.
