作者是同情April的。Frank is just an ordinary person, mistaken for someone special by April, which was unfortunate for both of them.

the book was written with Frank as the main character and hardly touched on April's thoughts until the very end. So the writer wasn't actually trying to argue for April, but to expose Frank.
