last time i went to Mexico.
and i met this wonderful western lady in the resort.
her name is Bonnie. she is over 60, married, and has two daughters.
she went to Mexico with her younger sister and her niece.
what surprised me was that in just 3 days and 4 nights, Bonnie and i magically became super close friends.
on the beach, i was reading the book "Tuesday with Morrie", by Mitch Albom. the subtitle of the book is "an old man, a young man, and the life's greatest lesson".
Bonnie and i talked about everything and she almost became my mentor. at some point, i think the subtitle of my vacation should be "an old woman, a young woman, and the life's greatest lesson". ^^
she always seems to be ready and glad to answer my silly questions.
so the conversation always started with me saying: Bonnie, can i ask you something?
and she goes: un-huh, sure.
i told Bonnie that i like to be with someone who is much smarter and knowledgeable than me. i guess it's because i can learn from them.
the fact is, most of the them are men. so i had this tendency of trying to make friends with men who are at least 10 years older than me.
and instantly Bonnie seems to know what my question is.
she said: you want to ask me how to stay friends and *just friends*, with men, right?
^^ i smiled.
"it's hard," she said, "because men always want more."
i said: "you have just confirmed what i have always been unsure about. "
"however with that being said,......." Bonnie started to talk about her best friend, a firefighter she had been a close friend with since 18. there are times that the friendship is jeopodised by certain things, and she had to back up a little bit. but she said she won't give him up for anything. the friendship has been a crucial part of her life.
she said: "it wasn't until 40 that i realized that: you get what you asked for in life. everyone might have bad luck from time to time, but eventually you get what you asked for. for example, you learned English, came to US, did what you had to do ...... and became who you are, it didn't just happen, it happened because you asked for it. you want to be an adventurer. and you will become one if you constantly ask for it."

"in a relationship, girl gets what she asks for. if something is about to go wrong, she should always know what she is asking for, because that is what she will get. " and that's the last thing she said about this topic.
by the way, the perfume Bonnie loves to wear is the brand called "Blush", by Michael Kors.
