After age 59 ½ and before age 70 ½, there are no requirements concerning the size or timing of your IRA withdrawals. During this age range, you may opt at any time to take as much or as little as you wish. after age 70 ½, there are stiff penalties for failing to withdraw the minimum.

The minimum withdraw amount is calculated based on the total fund and your age.
