THE GIANT CULPRITS WERE DEEMED TOO BIG TO FAIL. BUT ABACUS WAS SEEN AS JUST RIGHT: SMALL ENOUGH TO JAIL. OR SO IT SEEMED. ALUMNAE VERA AND CHANTERELLE SUNG RELIVE THEIR FAMILY’S SAGA.
