其实我没看前就猜这故事是highly symbolic

也就是我说的make a statement， 因为他们选择的最后方式，symbol of connection吧。

我也马上联想到，we all born alone, die alone，dying together is a ritual. 俺就不提有些cults让人mass suicide，爱情也算一种cult吧，“信仰”的力量巨大啊。和你提到的那些也差不多的意思，俺说得通俗点。

书里写了很多性行为，也一再提到害怕，我觉得也是比喻discovery of unknown, fear of uncertainty。我看得很粗，但感觉那个女人比较自我，那个男人是非常爱她的。

我为什么说是通俗小说呢，大概是因为我觉得自己see through it，and i didn't see light in the end。。。
