五言律诗    Five character regular verse

巴山道中除夜有怀-崔涂  On New Year's Eve - Cui Tu


迢递三巴路， Three Ba's road is turning out of scene;

羁危万里身。 Thousands of parlous miles I am traveling.

乱山残雪夜， In this snowed night and wild mountains,

孤烛异乡春。 Here is a lone candle and a foreign spring.

渐与骨肉远， So apart from my darling,

转於僮仆亲。 Let servants be my kin.

那堪正飘泊， How I can bear such life drifting,

明日岁华新。 With New Year just at tomorrow morning.
