昔年欲语还休，          yesterday words were shy and reticent
今朝笑颜依旧。          today smiles prevail their innocent
 
欲问花枝堪折，          had all those flowers ever being taken?
谁知落花已瘦。          Behold, they became frail and forsaken
 
知否，知否。          Hear ye, hear ye, you ought to know
流年花期已旧。          Where beauty perished in aging throe
