I Can't Go Home Today, Mom

Still in shock and tears, I feel I lost a piece of my heart. It's forever gone, with the 20 very young children of the Sandy Hook Elementary School.


Mom,
Today I can't go home.
A bullet ended my life,
In my first grade classroom.

By my side are 19 other tender souls.
We are now gathering above our shcool.
We don't want to leave,
Coz we still have some work to do.

Mom, I see you crying.
So is Mr. President on television.
Could you pass our message to him?
Please do something, anything.
Let every kid go to school safely
And come safely back home.
It's time for a change,
So we don't die in vain.

Christmas is coming,
But I'm leaving.
Mom, I'll miss you,
Like I always do.
