哥俩好？

去年记录了一对幼鹰（red tailed hawk）的成长。都是周末去；为了不打扰它们，所有照片都是躲在鸟蓬照的。有些片质较差，但为了记录全面，也上了。

 

#1 April 28. Good friends from start

 

#2 Happy family

 

#3 May 1.  Day dreaming

 

#4 May 6.  Dad caught a rabbit, mom joined in.

#5 Mouse delivery.  The two brothers did not show much interest in food.

 

#6  May 12.  Wing practice started very early.  It's a long way down from the nest, you'd better be sure when you take your first flight.

 

#7 The third egg never hatched.

#8  May 13.  Towards the end, they mostly got smaller preys.

 

#9  May 19.  Small prey

 

#10 May 18, a small bug

#11 May 19.  The brothers did not fight for the food

 

 

#12 May 20. More practice

#13  May 25.

 

#14 May 25, older chick fledged, on the pine tree with mom.

#15 May 25.  Mom got some food, landed closer to the younger chick

#16  The younger chick got the food.

 

#17 No longer friends?  The older chick snatched the food away from the younger chick!  This never happened before. I think the older chick needed much more food now that he could fly.

 

 

#18 May 26.  "I don't like you any more"

 

 

 

#19  May 27.  The younger chick fledged.  He landed very close to my bird blind.

#20  May 30.  The last photo I have.  The first year survival rate of red tailed hawk chick is about 10%. Good luck to these two!
