Shelters need to get a license from the government

Euthanasia is used for animals that are unadoptable or terminally ill. Some animals are too aggressive for a home environment, and others are suffering from diseases like cancer.

Feral animal populations need to be controlled, for both human beings and the animals themselves. When feral populations are left unchecked, they reproduce quickly, which is a problem for many cities right now. These feral animals also do not have access to abundant food resources, so the enlarged population is sickly and starving. Feral animals can also transmit diseases and cause other problems. It's better to take in feral animals and either euthanize them if they are unadoptable or neuter them and put them up for adoption. It's certainly better than having a very large and increasing number of sickly, starving, and possibly diseased wild animals.
