If you have filed 485 already, and you are waiting for your 485 to be approved, you are legal to stay in US as long as you want, even you don't have a job, or H1B.

The only problem is that when it is finally your turn, your 485 might be denied if your don't have a job in similar area.

Therefore, Stay is not a problem, but you still have to find a job in the similar area.
