Appeal question, update under old case number

Dear Brothers and Sister who have appealed your denied case before: I appealed my NIW case and they gave me a new case number. What will happen to the old case number? I have got the message that my appeal has been transfered to AAO, but now the old number update said that my case was received 10-5-06 to process.

My question is: is this message from AAO or from original processing center---NSC? Have you guys received the updates under your appeal case number or under the old case number?

Are these information meaning that my case has been returned to NSC for reopen or sth else? I doubt, because the Appeal case number shows my case has been transfer to AAO on Sep. 21.

Will the AAO will let you know any information before they process your case?
