《老子》中英譯文：第五章

1 天地不仁，以萬物為芻狗。	天地的仁愛沒有親疏之分，萬物在他眼裏一視同仁猶如祭祀用的草狗犧牲。 The love of heaven and earth has no preference; in their eyes all creatures are equal and the same as hay-dog sacrifices.
2 聖人不仁，以百姓為芻狗。	聖人的仁慈也沒有親疏之分，百姓在他眼裏一視同仁也像祭祀用的草狗犧牲。 The kindness of holy men has no preference; in their eyes people are equal and the same as hay-dog sacrifices as well.
3 天地之間，其猶橐蘥乎！	天地之間的宇宙，像是一個巨大無窮的風爐！ The universe under heaven and earth looks like an infinite blowing furnance!
4 虛而不屈，動而俞出。	他看起來虛無平靜，實質上卻毫無止盡，他越動産出的力量就越大。 He seems empty and silent, indeed he is unlimited; more efforts he makes more power is produced.
5 多言數窮，不如守中。	言論越多就越扭曲真理偏離主題，所以不如持守中庸虛靜為佳。 Excessive chatters result in a deep distortion of truth, so it is better to keep neutral and silent.
