I have been to the Arctic circle before, just share some of my thoughts with you.

I had exactly the same dream as you are having. But the reality is: In the Arctic cycle, there're only two seasons. Warm season or cold season. Warm season, all day, no night, cold season, all night no day. Many of your activities are appearently day activities. For example, whale watching, dog sleghing, etc. are mostly held after May, not during the Xmas time. During the Xmax time, you can enjoy Aurora,and only Aurora.

Please also bring your satellite cell phone. (A must). You will kill yourself if you don't have one. GPS is also helpful if you do snowmobiling, which is a very popular transpotation. Most of your cars are not designed to drive in -30 -- -50F. You should have car heater installed. Or rent one with that feature.
