there are 4 ropes,

the first one connect the top of the 1st staircase and the 2nd highest level of the 2nd staircase,

the second one connect the top of the 2nd staircase and the 2nd highest level of the 3rd staircase,

the third one connect the top of the 3rd staircase and the 2nd highest level of the 4th staircase,

the 4th rope connect the top of the 4th staircase and the 2nd highest level of the 5th staircase.

Just check what will happen then?

If every monkey stop at the top of any staircase then, then no monkey gets the banana on the 5th staircase. If the monkey keep going if there is a rope at the top (keep ascending only apply to the staircase, not the rope) then who get banana depends on the speed of the monkeys.
