That is not the issue. No one like to be called
young lady. But as I said, it depends on the situation and culture. In Europe, people call MR.XXX or MS. XXX in ANY case, so when they call you YOung lady, that is really offensive and that does mean something. Americans are different. They are very casual. They never call MR>XXX but always first name, or sometime Nick Name. As long as it is not in a formal meeting, I do not think there is something wrong. Also I do not think EVERYTIME they meet you they call you young lady, but just some days. I think being so sensative only mean lack of confidence or self esteem.
