Look at South-East Asia, Chinese are the richest in countries like Indonesia and Philippine, what kind of political influence do they have? We just want to live our safe and rich life, unnoticably, we would not want to really impact the society or contribute to community. Do you know that Chinese in Bay area are the richest bunch among US Chinese communities? An outdated statistic shows that despite 7% of the total income, only contributes to 2% of donation. Do you know why every US election plays Latino and Black cards, but no one plays Chinese card? Because a couple of hundred dollar of tax cut will be good enough for some, and the rest won't even bother to go out.
