If your kids are small you don't really have much time to do anything else anyways. After your kids get a little bigger you can pick up your hobbies again.
It is not just Chinese. I married to a native. We spent our weekends shopping, hiking, go out for dinner or hang out with friends or family. We watch TV and read a while before we sleep. Eerybody has similar routine.
