Plus, GOP has not practiced fiscal conservatism at all. If any, they are fiscally even more liberal. Instead of taxing and spending, GOP has turned to borrowing and spending.
It was pretty telling in the VP debate when Paul Ryan accussed Obama spent so much on stimulus, Biden responded by calling out Ryan's request of stimulus money.
Practice what you preach. If you are a true fiscal conservative, apply your principle to yourself FIRST! If you say stimulus is bad for the country, refuse stimulus money!
As for stimulus, great majority of moderates understand it needs to be done. A significant portion of the stimulus, more than 1/3 of the first stimulus was tax deduction for small businesses, and essentially all of the second stimulus was for tax deduction for middle class. Attacking stimulus was viewed as irresponsible among the moderates.
On top of this, Romney proposed to raise military spending significantly. That's not fiscally responsible. At the time of significant economic hardship when there is no obvious military threat, expansion of military is wasteful.
You just can not reconcile Romney's positions to fiscal conservatism.
