Eating pizza every day may have saved Jean Wilson’s life. The elderly Memphis resident lives alone and has ordered a large pepperoni pizza every day for the past three years without fail from her local Domino’s Pizza — until this past weekend. On Monday, a conscientious Domino’s delivery driver named Susan Guy noticed that Wilson hadn’t called in to place her order for three days and insisted that she be allowed to check on Wilson, even offering to clock out from work to do so.
Guy drove to Jean Wilson’s house and asked neighbors if they’d seen her:
“And [the neighbor] said, ‘No, maybe she’s not home.’ And I said, ‘Well, not home?’ I said, ‘How many times have you seen her leave?’ and he goes, ‘Never.’”
Guy called 911, and police officers entered Wilson’s home and found her lying on the floor after a fall. Wilson hadn’t been able to make it to the phone to call for help.
Investigators told WMC-TV that it’s possible Jean Wilson’s all-pizza diet could have saved her life, and called delivery driver Susan Guy a hero.
