"Shining House" written by Alice Munro reveals the conflicts between two generations. It sounds like the changes are unavoidable. These include living senses, lifestyle, and goals. The difference exists all the time, but I can't agree on the way that young generations treat their elders.

[Two generations are different; in fact, it is a striking contrast between them. Mrs. Fullerton, who is presenting the elderly generation, is somehow odd for her young neighbors. Living in an unpainted old house, breeding hens and goat, never contact the young neighbors except for her egg business. She reminds to be mysterious. Mrs. Fullerton, who was abandoned by her second hu*****and, is living lonely with her hens and nanny goat and sells eggs to neighbors. She is not sad or alone, in contrast, she is "self-sufficient and lasting." When she shows up in front of her neighbors for business, she is a well dressed lady, with her hair curled and her mouth painted. Inside, she is an individual and strong woman. However, the young neighbors are living in a totally different life. They are middle-aged, decent white-collars such as realtor or lawyer. In fact, they are not rich but they always dream of being rich. As you know, sometime people are living in a kind of illusion, just for comfort themselves. Even though they can’t get that much wealth, they are still seeking for the feeling of luxury.]

Generations are not the same. In fact, there is a struggle between them. Mrs. Fullerton, who presents the elder, looks weird in her young neighbors’ view. She lives in an old, shabby house, raises her hens and goats, and has never contacted her young neighbors except in her egg business. She seems being mysterious. Being abandoned by her ex-hu*****and, Mrs. Fullerton begins to live with her hens and nanny goat, sell eggs to her neighbors. She does not feel sad or alone; she is “self-sufficient and lasting.” When she shows up in front of her neighbors for the business, she dresses very well, makes up with red lips, put on the curled hair, and looks like a strong woman. In contrast, her young neighbors are living in middle-aged and decent white-collars as realtors or layers, who are not rich but always dream of being rich. Occasionally, people feel comfortable while they are living in an illusion. Even though they do not become wealth, they could feel as they have.
