I think what your said is right!
For the word "modern", the stress shoulb be on first syllable according to dictionary, but somehow the original recording didn't sound that way.

I don't know if you have read nce4 before, but this Article is challeng indeed. Even thought I have practiced a few hours , but I still didn't feel smooth and flunent in this reading.
I should take the lesson and slow down a little bit since Rome wasn't built in a day!
