新部门说“assignment could be turf” 什么意思

最近公司slow down，同其它同事被调到另外的部门，另外部门的领导的邮件对我们的新安排回复的邮件中有如下的话，不知assignment could be turf是什么意思？是说我们是被原来部门随意扔掉的“草皮”吗？谢谢！
