Bring A "Baby" to A Baby Shower

Last Sunday,  I attended a baby shower hosted by my co?in?law.  The whole event was a great success, warm, sweet and playful. 

 A total of 39 people came. Every room was decorated with a baby theme.  The kitchen was filled with all kinds of food, set up buffet?style. Everyone lined up to get their food and then found a place to eat—standing or sitting, whatever they preferred.

There were games too. One was “Guess the Baby,” where a  board was covered with baby photos of the guests. Whoever guessed the most correctly won a prize.

Then came the diaper?changing competition. The future mom and dad were blindfolded and was asked to change a diaper on a doll as fast as possible. My son proudly participated… and put the diaper on backwards. 

I asked my co?in?law what food I should bring, and she said, “Oh, just a salad or a fruit platter.” Too easy. So I decided to bring a little surprise: a baby?shaped steamed bun , some rose flower buns and my beloved multigrain pumpkin  bread loaded with dried fruit, nuts and seeds.  The three colors used in the dough came naturally from pumpkin, beet, and cocoa powder.
