APAD: Elephant in the room
"Elephant in the room" is an idiom for an obvious, major issue that everyone is aware of but no one wants to discuss.
It's used to describe awkward or uncomfortable topics that a group is avoiding, often due to embarrassment or fear of controversy. For example, in a family gathering, a recent job loss could be the "elephant in the room" that everyone avoids mentioning.

I'm sure we all run into the "elephant in the room" situation, at least once in life. But I'm not aware of myself being an "elephant" and never want to be one either.
Alright, below is a funny video that explains the idiom much better than me.
