The Snows of Kilimanjaro

 

On any sunny day, the peak of

Kilimanjaro can be seen from afar.

Legend has it that the frozen carcass

of a leopard lies there in the snow.

How did it reach that no man's land

and be in a league of its own?

 

On the way to get there giant groundsels

guard this sacred place like warriors.

Endless days fly by between them.

 

I tried to climb that kind of height,

and reach my full potential, but my poems

are still so dull. How sad! I could do better.

I'm trying, but time is running out.

All my time has been wasted on making ends meet.

 

Mediocrity is all I'm going to achieve.

Beaten down and tired, I'll never reach

the summit and shine like the snows of Kilimanjaro.

 

【七律】乞力马扎罗的雪

 

雪晴乞力马扎罗，花豹长眠与顶阿。

生作树人千里木，行如日子万年梭。

诗篇鲁钝真悲也，身世飘浮奈苦何。

碌碌庸庸身已累，难登雪顶任蹉跎。
