APAD: The moon is made of green cheese.

 

Usually stated sarcastically with the implication that a person must be either

gullible or ignorant because they'll even believe the moon is made of cheese.

 

'green' here refers to the youthful age of the cheese and not its color.

The moon is made of green cheese only when such a story helps humans to survive

and reproduce and it catches on. Otherwise, it's lunacy.

 

A wise man prays in a storm not because God will deliver him from danger but

from fear (Emerson said that, I think). He fights better sans the paralyzing

fright and will more likely weather through. In other words, the debate whether

God exists is often moot when it pays to believe.
