Ten Romantic Haiku
------------------
lazy summer day
toes tangled intimating
what will be later
i'm waiting, breathless,
and then, a sudden grin breaks,
shining from her face
love is: when he drives
fifty extra miles to work
just to drop me off
when i understand
exactly how your mind works
we will not need words
curled up behind me
your arms enfold me, cloaking,
hide me from the world
a scent of wood smoke
apple blossoms in her hair
once upon a time
her finger traces
small patterns across my palm
can she read my mind?
i still have that book
that one he gave me years back
it still bears his name
i just wanted you
to know last night when i dreamed,
i knew you were there
her calm voice calls me
from another room, i run
but no one is there
