Maybe you should have ridden a horse,

Not taken the train at Kramatorsk Station.

It came from far away north, 

Marked "For the Children” in Russian 

It was a missile, not Santa’s Sleigh 

 

 

 

Your purple toy horse, still not fast enough to 

Carry you away from the dark fumes of war

To a giant willow tree, where you sit underneath, 

Read a book about a black stallion, and 

Grow old slowly, like tree rings

 

 

 

Bear from the North, evil with no limits 

Don’t you dare to speak “Children” again ——

They are coming to haunt you 

On horses, by brigades，

Before resting in peace, for eternity
