I just saw your 师兄's reply to your previous post about the sentence in “The Great Gat*****y”. I re-read the sentence after seeing his reply. You and your 师兄 are right, and my interpretation was wrong (I think I got it from somewhere when I read the book the first time). So it is the moon that is produced from a caterer’s basket like a supper, although I don’t know the hidden meaning of this sentence.
