“剩女”比较地道的说法及其他

昨天和朋友聊天学了几个表达现在和大家分享：（理解可能会有偏差欢迎大侠们指正！）

1） 剩女比较地道（能让natives一下子就明白）表达：a sprinter,an old maid--a woman who is older and not married. 

2)It keeps my life interesting--it keeps me confused  可以用得上的情景：譬如在parkade 兜了几圈都没能找到出口。

3）Follow me, I will be right behind you--加拿大的纽芬兰人特有的表达，愚蠢的说法。（如果我跟你走，你如何在我后面了？stupid）

4） Food went through him like a dose of salts--很快很有效地消耗掉食物就如吃了泻药   A dose of salts means a laxative

5 You can't throw a stick and not hit a Thompson-意思是姓Thompson的人太多了，扔出一木条子就能击中一个。。。中文我们常说招牌。譬如：这里的博士多如过江之鲫，一个招牌掉下来就能击中几个。。。（oops, no offense to 博士们here :)) kidding。

6）thousands and thousands must be 500---意思The way they talk you will never know what will come out of their nmouth. 纽芬兰人讲话总是出其不意的好玩/无厘头

这个表达有点像二师兄说的“我和师妹加起来等于500强”

7） She didn't come by it strange, she inherits it. 这个是她家族遗传啦。She didn't come by it strange（这个我不会翻译，请大家帮帮忙，多谢！）--她不是无缘无故这样的，这是她家族遗传啦。
